Since last Friday at approx 3.30pm I have been coordinating a massive project of preparing over 40,000 cardboard money boxes in aid of Jersey Hospice (sponsored by my employer) for distribution by Jersey Post on Monday in readiness for Hospice Awareness Week. This included:
- Placing double sided tape on each box;
- Peeling off the tape (no nails left!), folding & sticking the edges together.. (they arrived in one piece and we needed to stick 2 ends together but still leave the box flat so that it could be posted);
- Placing each box in an envelope and sealing it; and
- Getting them to Jersey Post by 9am this morning in order for them to be delivered next Monday in readiness for Hospice Awareness Week.
Sounds easy huh? Can I say that I'm making it sound easy but it was manic & mayhem, a logistical nightmare!!
It would not have been possible without the small army of people who gave up their w/end and indeed Monday & Tuesday to help pull it all together. They rallied around day & night..
They included my very dear friends, colleagues, Vietnam cyclists & trekkers, Hospice volunteers, Jersey W.I., the female inmates of La Moye Prison, the Probation Service.
To all these very special people, my heartfelt thanks... Jersey Hospice will benefit enormously from your efforts...
So tonight I'm taking it easy, as not to put too fine a point on it....I'm tres exhausted..
Training will resume tomorrow...
