Saturday 21st April Day 201

Had a bit of a night out last night and consequently was feeling a tad delicate this morning.. however, not to be deterred with such trivia I bounced (not really) out of bed at 8.30am for my cycle..
Having left the VW V10 bike at work for my pm cycles, I was intending to use the Ferarri...but guess what? ...tyre still flat....
Now...as I'm unsure about tyre pressure and even more unsure of how to use my pump thingy for that matter, I had mailed ''OFF'' in the week for his advice....it hasn't been forthcoming.....this is a bit of a blow as he knows lots about bikes and he was the one who put my cleats in my shoes etc...so big gap left...who's going to do my new shoes?!! ....vacancy needs to be filled!!
Mailed another ''OFF'' but out of office and then mailed ''COAG'' for help.... which was given generously but of course made no sense to me whatsoever when I tried to inflat the tyres....I'm so useless at practicle stuff!
I badly need a course in bike maintenance!!
Off I set.. glorious morning...but OMG, how difficult is it to cycle whilst feeling delicate...it nearly killed me....
I'm convinced it's because I still have soft tyres....!
Concentration being what it was, I then proceeded to fall off the bike as I forgot I was still clicked in and stopped....duhh....no broken bones or blood involved though so all well..
Made it home in one piece....in a taxi...I stopped at a friends for breakfast and was just too too tired to get back on...
I'll never be a professional at this rate!!
Off for a snooze..

Day 1 - Saturday 10th February 2007

Today is the first day of my countdown to my Cycle Vietnam challenge in November. Today I have: a. set up a fund raising page at http://www.justgiving.com/siobhanmartina b. set up this blog to track my training progress and no doubt many frustrations; and c. started my training. It has to be said that I'm feeling a tad righteous! In saying that I feel that I have to mention that my training took place on my exercise bike at home....come on!!...it's far too cold and wet for the real thing! I'm looking at about April for that!!! I've set myself a goal of doing at least 1 hour on the bike every day and have had the most wonderful idea of how to get over the tedium of getting nowhere slowly! Yes... I'm going to watch the whole series of 'The Sopranos'....series 1-6 in fact! When I've finished these I'll then move onto '24' ...again...every series available on DVD. But panic not my sweets, amongst all this toil, I will also be going to the gym....I'll be the one with the very pink cheeks at Fitness First! How come some girls look great exercising and some look like...well....me?! My stats on the bike for today were: RPM - 72 / SPEED - 28 / TIME - 60 mins / DISTANCE - 26.48 / CALORIES - 599 ( = 1 Mint Aero & 1 Ripple!) But as the old saying goes, 'The best laid plans of mice and Siobhans' or as my lovely Mother would say, 'The road to hell is paved with good intentions!'. Till next time...
